Some of you have gotten this via snail- or e-mail. Repeated here for your convenience; for others, welcome and here’s who we are and how we’re asking for your help.
Deadline for publication at launch is 15 June 2009.
Who we are:
jerseyofthemonth.com is a new site that will offer a curated collection of exclusive, limited-edition bicycle jerseys and other bicycling apparel. The site will be monetized by the sale of these jerseys and by a few advertisements. There will be a strong focus on building a community of cyclists who care about cycling for fitness and transportation, and who participate in bicycling related philanthropy, such as fund raising rides like the MS 150, etc.
A substantial percentage of the net proceeds from this site will be donated to bicycling advocacy groups and bicycling related philanthropy, as advised by the community.
We’re just building out the site so there’s not much content there [here] now. Soft launch will be mid- to late June 2009; full launch will be approximately one month thereafter.
If you like what you’ve read so far, read on for more details on how you can help.
How you can help:
We are soliciting articles/blog posts from groups like yours [industry figures representing both non-profit and for-profit organizations]. In exchange for your submission and your posting a link to our site on your site, we are happy to publish your content, to give you a link to your group, and to put your group’s website on our blogroll.
We would also be happy to consider requests for funding or donations from your organization; please note that the size and frequency of such donations will be limited at first, but as we grow we expect to be able to send most of our net proceeds to groups like yours.
What we’d like to see:
* Articles or blog posts on issues of current interest to cyclists who are interested in bicycling advocacy and bicycling related philanthropy.
* Written by someone who speaks for your group (Director, etc); please provide the name and a contact email; if you’d like the contact email published, please advise. Either way is fine.
* Link that you’d like to appear at the end of the article/post.
* Link that you’d like to appear in the blogroll.
* Graphic, if any, that you’d like to appear with the article (e.g. your organization’s logo).
* We’d like you to post our logo on your site, with a link to ours.
* Please submit by Monday, 15 June for publication at our site’s launch
* We’re happy to have you continue to submit content over time; if you’re willing to make a commitment to regularly supply content, we can talk about giving your organization a more prominent presence on our site.
You don’t necessarily have to create something new; if you have content that’s already been written that you’re willing to share, feel free to submit that.
What you should expect:
Once your article is accepted for publication, we’ll send you a notification, then once it’s actually posted (we probably won’t post all the submissions at once), we’ll send you a link to the online posting.
